Evidence-informed speaking, training, and consultation to help organizations address the psychological demands of high-responsibility roles, navigate complex challenges, and better support the people at the heart of their mission.
The Work Behind the Work

From intimate gatherings of fewer than 10 participants to audiences of 200 or more, speaking engagements are tailored to the interests, experiences, and needs of each audience. I work closely with organizers to create engaging, evidence-informed experiences that bring complex topics to life through accessible insights, audience participation, and meaningful dialogue. Whether facilitating a small-group conversation or addressing a large audience, the goal is to encourage reflection, deepen understanding, and spark conversations that continue beyond the event.
-
I collaborate with organizational leaders to design and facilitate engaging, trauma-informed trainings grounded in the realities of their teams' work. Topics may include navigating difficult conversations, coping with burnout, vicarious trauma, and moral injury, or supporting colleagues through grief, loss, and critical incidents.
Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all approaches, workshops emphasize active participation, practical skill development, and opportunities to apply new strategies to real-world challenges. Trainings typically range from a few hours to full-day events, with content and format adapted to the organization's goals.
-
I partner with organizations to develop new educational programs, refine existing curricula, and strengthen professional development initiatives. This work extends beyond individual training events to support thoughtful, sustainable approaches to learning and organizational growth.
Projects may include establishing learning objectives, developing educational content and experiential exercises, advising on facilitation strategies, and incorporating participant feedback to evaluate and improve programming. Throughout the process, I work with leadership and facilitators to ensure programs are relevant, engaging, and responsive to the people they serve.
-
Meaningful learning and organizational change often require more than a single event. I offer flexible, ongoing or as-needed consultation to help organizations build on the conversations, insights, and skills introduced through speaking engagements, trainings, and workshops.
Support may include facilitated follow-up discussions, opportunities to process challenging workplace experiences, reinforcement of newly acquired skills, or consultation with leadership as new challenges emerge. Engagements may involve a single follow-up gathering, periodic consultation, or a longer-term collaborative relationship.
-
Speaking, training, and consultation fees are determined by the scope of each engagement, including the format, duration, preparation required, and specific needs of the organization.
I am committed to making this work accessible to organizations serving the public good and offer equity-based pricing for nonprofit and community-serving organizations, with consideration given to organizational resources and funding constraints.

Grounded in my research on moral injury and experience co-developing a treatment specifically designed to address it, this presentation examines what happens when professional responsibilities and experiences come into conflict with deeply held values. Moving beyond definitions, it explores the psychological and relational consequences of these experiences, the ways they can challenge professional identity, and what emerging research tells us about pathways toward healing and repair. Particular attention is given to the organizational conditions that contribute to these challenges, the limitations of individual-focused solutions, and opportunities for meaningful intervention at both individual and organizational levels.

High-responsibility roles, sustained exposure to suffering, and competing demands can take a significant emotional toll. This talk offers an alternative to traditional self-care approaches that can feel like one more thing to accomplish. Rather than adding to an already full to-do list, participants explore High-responsibility roles, sustained exposure to suffering, and competing demands can take a significant emotional toll. This talk offers an alternative to traditional self-care approaches that can feel like one more thing to accomplish. Rather than adding to an already full to-do list, participants explore flexible, sustainable ways to support their emotional well-being through small shifts in perspective, greater self-compassion, and more realistic expectations of themselves and others. Emphasis is placed on developing an ongoing practice of recognizing the impact of difficult work, maintaining perspective, and finding validation and connection through others.

For individuals drawn to professions that reflect deeply held values, a strong sense of purpose and commitment can be both a source of fulfillment and a defining part of their identity. Over time, however, professional roles can occupy a disproportionate share of one's sense of self, making it difficult to shift out of work mode or remain connected to other important roles and relationships. This session explores ways to broaden and strengthen identity beyond work, nurture connections as partners, parents, friends, and individuals, and develop greater flexibility in moving between roles. The goal is not to diminish professional purpose, but to ensure it remains a source of meaning and fulfillment without coming at the expense of other valued parts of life.

Conversations involving trauma, grief, conflict, or other emotionally charged experiences can be challenging to navigate, particularly in group and professional settings. This session introduces trauma-informed approaches to facilitating sensitive discussions, responding to unexpected personal disclosures, and maintaining appropriate boundaries without shutting down meaningful dialogue. Participants learn strategies for fostering psychological safety, balancing individual needs with the group's purpose, and responding with compassion and confidence.

Healthcare professionals increasingly face conversations in which medical evidence, personal beliefs, fear, and mistrust intersect. Against a backdrop of growing misinformation, institutional distrust, and hostility toward medical expertise, these encounters can be emotionally exhausting, strain relationships, and leave clinicians feeling frustrated, ineffective, or morally conflicted. This talk acknowledges the broader forces contributing to these challenges while exploring the psychological and relational dynamics at play. Participants explore practical strategies for de-escalating hostility, maintaining professional boundaries and integrity, and engaging patients with compassion, curiosity, and respect. The session also creates space for peer validation, shared reflection, and recognition of the vital role healthcare professionals play in upholding scientific integrity and serving as trusted voices in their communities.
